7 minutes of some amazing Martial Arts by my friends in Kerala, South India. It's from a very, very rough video - remember those? filmed by one camera at a time, so picture quality is rough. But you should be able to geta feel for the martial art form itself.

PArt 2 - Also, you can't deny that we taught, yes we did teach many people. Did you know that today there are tribes in India descendants of Alexander the Great. Have you ever heard of the Indo-Greek Statues. Look it up in books or Wikipedia. You will see that these statues where made during the times of Alexander, ofcourse this isn't the proof that he was in all of india, but it shows that he was promoting multicultural world. He promoted and adored Indian culture and tradition
Look up Indo Greek ... ( 2 weeks ago by Achileas101010)
Look up Indo Greek Kingdom in wikipedia. Greeks and Indians mixed alot. There is so many Indo Greeks today that don't know where they are from, and some know they are descendants of Alexander. They still have the culture from back in the day, and speak a different language. You cant deny that man common now, lets not lie. Today if you go i think somewhere near Karachi village (i'm not sure about spelling) you will see them. They only merry among themselves, all from the Indo Greek Kingdom.
Again I'm not ... ( 2 weeks ago by Achileas101010)
Again I'm not saying that he was in all India. Obviously not, Indians where well prepared they where very powerful thats why the Persians never invaded, or rather couldn't invade. In any case a big part of persia today was India. But Alexander was in India.
Achileas, No doubt ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
Achileas, No doubt the greeks and Indians intermingled in the past. But the Indians do not claim that greek civilization learned from the Indians. Greeks on the other hand have gone ahead and painted Indians as Barbarians who were taught everything because of the greek influence. Our history does not even talk about greeks. If one reads greek historians, one finds the alexander attack on border town as the only possible interaction point.
But this is ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
But this is mentioned by greek historians. India at that time was spread across current day afghanistan, pakistan, nepal, bangladesh and all the way to Malaysia(malay is half sanskrit) and Indonesia. Look at the size of that land mass and then compare it with whatever Alexander may have attacked...Because, Indians did not even know who Alexander was until the britishers came in and talked about greek historians and invasion. But an attack on some border towns can hardly be called an Invasion!!
Even in this small ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
Even in this small border town, the beating that Alexander's army took dissuaded it from going further. They fought and quarrelled and returned from there. en . wikipedia . org / wiki / Porus Copy paste the above link and remove spaces. You will see that Alexander's victory over Porus is described as "Pyrrhic". Secondly, this Porus is not known. Thirdly, the descriptions of Historians is doubted and suggested as exaggerated. Lastly, Indian Historians do not mention Alexander at all!!
What do we learn? ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
What do we learn? Alexander touched upon a border town in India and attacked for no good reason. The work of a robber! His armies got a sound thrashing and he barely won. This against a nobody, someone whom Indian history does not even acknowledge. The amount of land mass he won could hardly be described as 0.025 % or so compared to the land mass of India. Yet, greeks feel Indians welcomed Alexander(noot mentioned anywhere) and Alexander Invaded India. REALITY, Alexander probably scratched India
Even this is ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
Even this is doubtful. Also this is recorded only by greek historians. No-one noticed alexander's minor incursions in Indian history much less got influenced by it. Lastly, this minor incursion so scared Alexander that on the way back he decided to go through the sea route and even there, as legend has it he died due to some "mysterious" condition. Hardly the story of an conqueror and the influence theory does not even look plausible.
So likely, ... ( 2 weeks ago by 0musing)
So likely, alexander's people got some knowledge from India rather than Indians getting anything from this nothing minor incursion.
what and people ... ( 1 week ago by mitsosfantasia)
what and people care about india? man oh man, thank god most indians arent as stupid and ignorant and racist as yourself. easy there, india uber alles. the man was just saying respect because we have two ancient cultures.
In case you can ... ( 1 week ago by 0musing)
In case you can read english AND understand, you should read carefully, chew over it and then post something. Once you type it, read it again think one final time and then press the "post comment" button. Nothing racist in my comments down there for now...and nothing about people caring about India. Als the man was not saying respect etc.. he was implying India is a land of backward people who got educated because of alexander the common criminal..Capisce? Think hard over it.
thank you for ... ( 1 week ago by mitsosfantasia)
thank you for wasting everyone's time in explaining the rules of youtube. he said that the greeks traded and shared, not educated you. anyway basically you showed your self in your comments. thankfully ignorant indians are far and few thankfully, not unlike yourself.
See the ... ( 1 week ago by 0musing)
See the contradiction between your last two posts. On the one hand you say - what and people care about India? On the other you say ignorant indians are far and few etc... Make up your mind and if you are trying to be reasonable, at least point out which parts of my comment are ignorant? and which are racist? Or do you just believe in making accusations and then empty abusive comments before running away...
no contradiction at ... ( 1 week ago by mitsosfantasia)
no contradiction at all, you said who cares about greece today because of our past, you think anyone cares more about india today anymore than greece? who ran anyway, im trying to point out to you that you are very nationalistic in your view. the other guy was saying that BOTH cultures learned from each other, and you deny this. read your OWN history of india and you can see that YOU my friend are nothing like the hindu's sikhs that i know.
best part 2:45-3:20 ... ( 1 week ago by mitsosfantasia)
best part 2:45-3:20. pure respect, this is how their ancestors fought!
Because the other ... ( 1 week ago by 0musing)
Because the other guy is wrong. There is no historical evidence of this kind of exchange. Also, I think you have not really read what the other guy is saying. He is not saying that they learnt from India. He is saying Alexander bought techniques which Indians learnt!! This is poppycock...Bullcrap! If at all anything is true, its that Indians evolved their own culture and civilization. Secondly, why did you call me racist? Where did I say racist things? Lastly, Kalari is a art unique to Kerala.
No one from the ... ( 1 week ago by 0musing)
No one from the North, whether its the Sikhs or the Hindus can claim that they also used similar technique. Othenon is a famous hero from Kerala, I doubt that most people from North have even heard that name! Also, use your brains a bit! India has more than a billion people. If you have known 10 Indians you can't assume you know us all. I am not going to take offence, because I found your comments largely puerile and judgmental. SO, my FRIEND, think and write. Think and write...do not assume...
