I'm not sure how the taliban got ousted in the first place. Probly has to do with bin laden. Anyways, theres a war going on and the taliban are running an insurgency. And you are right, the NATO forces are saying it's impossible to win against the taliban. And also that they want to pull out soon. But you missed a big part of that story. They want to get it to a level where the Afghan army can handle it themself. We're not going to just pull out and let the taliban take over again.
