Wistful and yearning at the start, a more upbeat middle section and a grand, ball-room dance-like ending. I play more with the base in this piece, rhythmically, than I usually do with Scott Joplin's rags.

You play the Searchlight Rag quite well, but i think (in my opinion) it could be played a little faster.

Thanks! I do play somewhat slower; it's a matter of preference at least with most of Scott Joplin's rags: some other rags I do like to play at a faster tempo. "Raggy Rag" by Floyd Willis is one (not posted yet).

@theragtimefan, it is not a matter of speed. Very nice, but this is not Ragtime. Scott Joplin himself has written a "School of Ragtime"; try it! Ragtime is counting "1-2-1-2". You play Boogie Woggie. Or Wiener Walzer.
