Certainly not a tidal wave - those are shore waves. This was a freak or rogue wave - though in reality it would have literally broken the ship up - not merely rolled it. The power of the wave was downplayed or else they wouldn't have had a movie...just floating debris.

I should add that in the Gallico novel it was supposedly an earthquake-precipitated tsunami - but considering that those waves are only a few inches high in the open water, the scenario must have an unspoken requirement for a shallow reef or somesuch near the Poseidon to account for its height.

I agree the 2006 poseidon aint the QM2 but it is heavil based on it, the back of both boats are very similar, as is the bow area, with the loading cranes etc.

but some people don't see the diffrences, and in fact that people are saying that 0:21 is the titanic even you can see clearly it has only 3 wide funnes is very sad
