Amazing 895,000 individual building model layout created over 300 man-years for the NY Worlds's Fair of 1964. The model was last updated in 1992. Every building built before 1992 is apparently represented. across all 5 buroughs of NY City area. Housed in former New Rock buolding from 1939 World's Fair, the museum display depicts a helicopter eye's view of the NY City area. Fascinating display- and a short subway ride on the 7 line to the Queens Museum of Art, located on same grounds as Shea Stadium and US Open Tennis Center.

I saw this at the NYWF in 1965 and again in 1989 on a return visit to the old fairgrounds. Still a impressive layout.

I have movies taken by my father of the panorama like exhibit at the 1939 world's fair at the same fairgrounds. Passengers sat in moving chairs around a 3d diorama of sorts. Key feature was moving car models, and the introduction of cloverleaf highway systems and bypasses...

Why aren't there any trains on this model. They have boats and planes that take off from Laguardia but no trains and thats called a Model of New York City?? No Subways come on
