The reason it did not appear on your desktop is because by default firefox does not save files to the desktop.
You need to tell firefox where to save downloaded files. To do so do this.
Boot up firefox, then select tools, then options.
The options windows will appear then in the downloads section click the browse button to select where you want firefox to save downloaded files.
Then close the options window and continue browsing.

When the error message "not able to locate the file" appears are you clicking on the downloaded video file?
