She's got a decent, conventional singing voice. She's not in the Universe of a Phoebe Snow, though. You can disguise the conventional as anything, but in the final analysis, it's still just conventional. Thirty years henceforth, just as for the past thirty years, Phoebe Snow's will stand as the defining voice of this song, and most likely few will remember Queen Latifah recorded it.

I love me some Latifah, but I have to agree that 'Phoebe Snow's will stand as the defining voice of this song.' This is the light version of the tune. However the backgrounds are kill it! They are subtle and silky.

I wouldn't say it is better, but Queen Latifah's version EXTREMELY good. I love it. People aren't giving her the credit she deserves. Not to mention, do any of y'all hear how clear she sounds live? How many artists today can actually do that?

We shouldn't compare them two,of course original of Phoebe Snow is remarkable,but it's very rare for someone to relight Phoebe's light with covering such a nice and beautiful song, and she actually did a good job to ever try the folky Jazz style not sounding too heavey,and it's the first time I heard that she used the falsetto,not bad at all.

I heard this version for the 1st time in Clearwater Beach recently where I used to live. An avid Phoebe Snow fan I knew it wasnt her as was shocked to hear it was Queen Latifah. I am not a real big fan of hers but what an absolutely beautiful version. Great Job!

Her voice is no where near the perfection of Phoebe Snow's. Queen is an ego maniac to think she is capable of this song. She isn't. It IS a great song. Some of you are right about that. But Queen can't handle it. Leave it to the pros, Queen. ~Phoebe Snow~
