Just because it's a written about the experiences of a teenager doesn't mean it should be read exclusively by that age group. If anything it should be accessible to that age and beyond, because it touches on topics a lot of people grew up dealing with. "Parents just don't understand" not being one of them. If anything the protagonist tries to connect with his parents...
Regardless, this song is beautiful.

very well said. to mwrs, if you knew anything about literature, you'd know that the novel is a great read for anyone-chbosky's narration is wonderful. To write from a child's view, and in particular, charlie's view, is brilliant. it's difficult for an adult writer to put himself in such a contrasting position.
