But replace it with what? Imperialism isn't so bad if it is carried out in an honest way. Just look at the Roman, Byzantine and Persian Empires. These systems improved the places they were conquering while taking something for themselves. The problem with British, French, Spanish, Ottoman Imperialism over the years is that, with a few exceptions its "raid and run", actually ruining rather improving culture. Though the finger of blame for ruining Iraq can be pointed straight towards the USA.
