***** DESCRIPTION ****** Using airolib-ng from the aircrack-ng suite I demonstrate here cracking my router with wpa-psk & an alphanumeric password, this is done under 2 minutes, the remainder of the video is demonstrating how to manually connect to the router with wpa_supplicant.
Using aircrack-ng -r command with a database is extremely faster than the normal example command "aircrack-ng -w password.lst wpa*.cap " as it tests approx 12900 keys per sec (k/s) where as without our database crack using aircrack-ng, will only test approx 500 k/s

hey where did you get that wordlist and how did you load it into backtrack? are you using a live distro because I tried loading a 2GB wordlist and it said nope! when i create the database in airolib-ng can i direct it toward hda1 on my regular windows hard drive to look for the password file?? instead of loading it into /root folder of live distro?? seems like that would work? great vid by the way!

cheers for the comments, I am running BT3 on my harddrive, I got the wordlist from a torrent & just filtered it for 8+ & -63 chars so that it suits wpa. I recommend you install bt3 cos you are quite limited with live distro, & that way when you get your word list you can save it in /root/wordlist same folder as your .cap & airolib-ng database, does this help?

hi the video is great, im a noob and might have been extremely lucky to hve already cracked both wep and wpa with my proxim and bt3, stupid quesion how did you get the aireplay airodump tabs on top of your setup, i have to bring up a box seprately everytime and type in aireplay etc, can you help, cheers.

Hello I wondered if you could help me. I have Linux Mint & I have installed "Aircrack-ng 1.0 Beta 2 (deb)
I can compile a Password/Essid database with "Airolib-ng" But after I've done this I go to do "Airocrack-ng --r (database file) (cap file) BUT I don't have a --r option ? I only have a --w option (standard dictionary/wordlist) what's going on ???? I've checked that aircrack --ng as also
bean upgraded to Beta 2, witch it as ....i don't understand ???

too many questions.... 1st the capture is cameo, 2nd the software is not linux, its slax & it takes practice, time & effort 2 perform what I just done, best of luck if you try doing it, put your mind 2 it & you can ;)

just out of curiosity, what kind of protection are you using on your network? since ive heard so much bad about wep/wpa, i just have some crappy wep protection just as one layer of security incase. but how can i really lock it down from attacks like this.

That's a HEX key. Try inserting in HEX format and not ASCII

elanorskelter, WPA/WPA2 is way stronger than WEP. To really "secure" your router, you should use WPA/WPA2 and a strong pass. WPA cracking will only work if the password is in the password list. Also, change the SSID to something unique. This will make your router invulnerable to pre-computed hash tables. Basically, strong WPA really strong WPA pass and change your SSID, this should keep all the hackers out. (If you really paranoid, you can also setup MAC filtering)
