Firstly theres no ... ( 2 months ago by satarrant)
Firstly theres no reason why Chomsky's refusal to give money to Uncle Sam conradicts his views. Indeed you might say that if he DID give money to a war machine this would be more of a contradiction. As or the definition of propaganda you give, well this is hoplessly narrow. Why wouldn't it be, given where you got it from? Check out the history of propaganda. To be effective it has to come frm a centralised bureacracy. The nazi's knew, and Unkie Sam knows it.
how can you make ... ( 2 months ago by paulwebb1)
how can you make erronious claims of putting uncle sam bunched with the naizi's that is very ignorant. him not giving money is in direct violation of what he believes. first he say the tax system is set up only for the rich to benefit. so by setting up a trust he aligned himself with what he preaches against. so therefore he is contradicting himself once again.
You've rambled and ... ( 2 months ago by satarrant)
You've rambled and fudged the issue there paul. American society is like German society at the time, in its use of propaganda. The content of the propaganda is very different, but you need to see thes things with a little more nuance. Chomsky is an anarchist, so refusing to pay tax is not in contrivance with this. Chomsky does not deny being rich, and with regards to that he would only be contradicting himself if he refused to give up his riches for the sake of an anarchist society.
no you are wrong ... ( 2 months ago by paulwebb1)
no you are wrong the answer is simple. he says the system is set up for only the rich so by doing what he did he contradicts himself. you don't want to admit it, but he did this. the answer is simple. he contradicted himself.
I'm afraid things ... ( 2 months ago by satarrant)
I'm afraid things are a little more complicated then that paul. Every time i make a point you just say, 'no, you are wrong and i am right'. You seem to lack the capacity to debate properly. don't mean to sound condescending here mate, but lets start with the basics. Do you understand what anarchism is? There are certainly ways you could refute what i am saying above, but you haven't thus far done it. I'm assuming its due to your lack of understanding of basic political terminology. You tell me!
what i am saying is ... ( 2 months ago by paulwebb1)
what i am saying is that noamy lies and everybody just swallows his crap with out investigating what he really says. So noam puts out his own propaganda as well. if he would practice what he preaches he woundn't have set up a trust for himself to exscape taxes. which he claims numerous times that the tax system only benefits the rich.?????
First of all, he ... ( 2 months ago by satarrant)
First of all, he doesn't 'lie' as you say. He writes books that are reviewed by his academic (right-wing) peers. He is never accused of 'telling lies'. The debate centers around such things as whetehr or not the imperial actions of America were benign or self-interested. Thats just one example, but you are the only person i have heard making the rather facile critique that Chomsky 'lies'. And people don't just swallow his crap, i think youv'e got him confused with the US administration.
Fianlly paul, and i ... ( 2 months ago by satarrant)
Fianlly paul, and i have said this a number of times, yet you seem to be unable, or perhaps unwilling, to digest this point; Chomsky is an ANARCHIST. Do you understand? There is no contradiction, what so ever, in a non tax paying ANARCHIST. Think about this point, and come back to me. Don't just fudge the issue by repeating yourself again and again. Tell me how it is a contradiction or an ANARCHIST to aviod paying taxes to a centralised state.

here ya go. for a few mistakes and lies of noamy's. What Chomsky wrote and said about the Khmer Rouge was a mistake, but it's uncharacteristic of his work. Chomsky never said the Khmer Rouge were genocidal butchers, he only said that there wasn't conclusive evidence that they were genocidal butchers. When a serious study of the Khmer Rouge is carried out, we will learn that most of the evidence of their "crimes" was faked by the Vietnamese after their conquest of Cambodia

Not sure spending ... ( 2 months ago by sxmadrid)
Not sure spending our money in small shops would rock the banks or telecoms, cars, cosmetics, cigs, music&film, construction etc corps, but you bet right, my friend. Some people support the concept and reality of corporate society, even if they complain about it. Many who don't support it feel helpless. It will be the actions of the minority who start the change, not the sheep. Chomsky is aware of it, I'm sure. Baa

exactly, due to propaganda though.
I love the choice ... ( 2 months ago by bringideason)
I love the choice that small specialty shops give us, and these shops do succeed. I don't think the answer is to punish corporations though. I think the answer is to lower taxes for all businesses equally so that the burden to start a successful business is reduced. So many small businesses fail in the first few years, and one reason is the tremendous burden of taxes and paperwork that one must keep up with to comply with our ever increasing nightmare of tax and regulation policies.

Common sense, believes in freedom truth democracy liberty and justice, and your country doesnt believe in any of it, so yes since you still claim to have common sense, Chomsky people, know that common sense doesnt make sense!
And your generalization of people, is a strange way of thinking, exactly like racists justify and generalize their hatred!

"make america better" isn't whining? it's people that "whine" that make a fucking difference. telling people to stop telling the truth is of no help whatsoever. you probably deserve the world we live in, but most of us don't. we should ALWAYS make ourselves heard. viva la revoluci

I am not very familiar with Mr. Chomsky's political thoughts, but I have never heard him specify any solution to the injustices and hypocrisies that he sees all around him (like corporate propaganda). This is more of an erudite rant than a call to action.
In any case, I'll take corporate greed and propaganda any day over a political system in which enlightened proletariat dictators promise to protect me from such greed and propaganda.
