I like it until Achilles stabs Boagrius. Then it's a little cheesy. I would prefer just silence after that trill, and it would sound better shorter, perhaps glissando up to a higher climax. After the kill, it just doesn't encompass the epic pwnage of the situation.

I remember the music hack james crap horner who replaced Yared score, cuz of the scank bastard Petersen was scared to put up a fight for him at the heads of the studios, then Crap horner comes in and ripps off classical composers, and himself, and then had the nerve to say that Yared score was at best a score for Hercules from the 50's!!! Then Crap horner got even more pissed off when Petersen didn't ask him to score Poseidon. I am glad that hack didn't fuck with John Williams music.

Horner's right. Yared's never done a big action movie before. Horner's done scores of action movies, so he knows what to write. Petersen wanted Yared to write the score that Yared wrote. Yared's score, although a wonderful on cd listen, would have been terrible for the film. It's too epic for the kind of film that Troy turned out to be. The test audiences said that Yared's score was too old fashioned for the movie. Horner's score works, but nothing more. He only had less than two weeks to write.

Yared's score would have been slightly too heavy for the film. It's like being hit with a 10 lb sledgehammer in the face. It forces us to feel the music.

The rejected score did suck royally. The new score by Horner wasn't his best, but it was decent and worked well with the movie.

I wouldn't say it sucked. It's definitely better than Horner's and most scores out there. Just that it would probably would be better in a stand-alone CD or another movie. =/

I greatly enjoyed Mr. Yared's work in the City of Angels soundtrack. Despite this, the music for, at least this scene, was over-dramatic and would have ruined the scene. I loved James Horner's OST, I listen to it every day.
