Dir en grey may not be Visual Kei anymore, but there are many other bands that still keep Visual Kei music alive. Even if there weren't any more Visual kei bands, their music would still live on, so, technically, Visual kei can never truly be dead (:

Agreed! And I think they're really better now! Visual Key is a close cage for the Japanese artists and music seems to be the same. Some bands had stopped this and tried to make another music for internationnal people. Dir en Grey and Kagerou were the first. Now Gazette...soon a few bands are gonna leave Visual Key for Metal Music. But we still love Visual Key ^^

Please don't make comments about them being metal or at that "THE GODS OF METAL ROCK MUSIC." Their are bands out their that will play circles around this band and Diru is not metal their hard rock they may have metal influences in their sound, but they lack the that extra kick to be classified as metal by their peers and they have never gone on record as classifying their sound as purely of the metal orientation...

"Visual Key is a close cage for the Japanese artists and MUSIC SEEMS TO BE THE SAME"
Not necessarly it all depends on the artist/group and how they grow over time and how restricting the artist/group wants to be when their expressing their particular sound, so unless you have proof that vkei limits individuals please be STFU with comments that can't stand on their own. Unless the ir read by idiots who don't know shit about self expression.

let's get this straight..
y'all can freely express ur opinion, but in fact, visual kei is just a japan-esque musical fashion statement, many of earlier visual kei bands sounded same like the other.. japanese music itself is too rich in variety, so we couldn't describe each band real genre, we could only describe its influencing-genre.. such as broadway n gothic music in tetsu era of malice mizer and french pop at gackt's era, or post-hardcore in girugamesh..

Earlier? You mean newer? Most Visual Kei groups back then didn't sound the same. Now today all of these Visual Kei groups have the exact same look and same kind of music :/

No, no band has kept it alive. Once Dir en grey left the Visual Kei scene the whole style died. Yeah it may still be around, but compare the Gazette to Dir en grey's Visual look. Compare Nightmare to Kuroyume's Visual look.
Originally groups were suppose to have eccentric hair and crazy costumes. Now they have emo clothes and the same 3 hairstyles with either blonde, black, or brown hair. Occasionally they have streaks of some sort in their hair.
Just some kind of japanese emo style now D:

yeah.. ^^ my bad, i mean newer.. older bands like x japan, dir en grey, laruku, siam shade, janne da arc, or even judy and mary carried their own specific sound, now most of them are considered a legend, right?
