What have they done to the World of Darkness? The Ascension crushes The Awakening any day of the week. They may have done a good job with Vampire, but White Wolf totally fucked Mage up.

Mage is much more playable now. As with all the nwod games, if you wanted to bring back some of the old concepts, you could figure out a way.

Face it...no Technocacracy, no Mage. Mage the Ascension was like nothing before...mage the Awakening is just a Order of the Golden Dawn rip-off with bag-of-tricks spells thrown in. If I can't play a Son of Ether, it ain't for me. I'm staying old school.
