Facts: The Gripen is designed for performance, flexibility, effectiveness and survivability in air combat. The designation JAS stands for Jakt (Air-to-Air), Attack (Air-to-Surface), and Spaning (Reconnaissance), indicating that the Gripen is a multirole aircraft that can fulfill each mission type.

Is it true that the Gripen has some sort of system that makes it harder for other airplanes to detect it? I was just wondering because I read an article about an airtest between nations different airplanes and it was said that the Gripen could see the others very easily but not beeing seen itself so easily.

I see no reason why you should not.
BUT, some would say the Gripen delivers more of 'bang for the bucks'. Anyhow, greetings from a free nation to another one! Long live the US!!!

Thank you, and greetings to you in your wonderful country of Sweden. I don't think I can come up with the $150 million or $180 million or whatever the F-22 costs, even if they would let anyone buy one..... yes, I think an air force can buy 5-6 Gripens for one F-22.....

BUT early results (reportedly) indicate that one F-22 can take out 6 other fighter aircraft quite easily without the other adversary ever knowing they were about to be attacked, so it may actually be worth having F-22s unless/until something comes along to counter its stealth technologies, etc.

Countries friendly to the USA don't have to worry about facing anything like the F-22, at least in the forseeable future, until the Russians or Chinese come up with something like it..... so buying 6x as many Gripens may make sense for a lot of countries and anyway so far the F-22 is not for sale to anyone outside the USA due to technology export restrictions, etc.

Why does all the ppl comment about how bad it is and how good USA is?
A fighter is a weapons platform a mobile sutch when you american rellies that you have spent like 180 million dollars on something that it getting shot down by a 250000 dollar Anti Aircraft thingy nice

Gripen is the firs 4th generation fighter in operation since mid 90s!
The turn around time is the shortest in the world and it can land/takeoff from road bases in STOL mode.

Says the always so bragging american patriotic we-only-show-our-own-stuff marine on discovery channels future weapons. Maybe it win vs 4 F-16s .. or whatever they used. Anyway expect much of what that guy say to be bs, atleast when it comes to hyping their own stuff.

är väl fortfarande mest troligt men ändå inte särskilt troligt. Jag är nog mer orolig över vad kineserna kan få för sig med mer pengar och större militär. Vi har väl 208 beställda eller hur det är, varav 30 eller vad det var är i tjeckien o ungern, men vi har väl inte fått alla leve
rerade och använder väl ännu färre. Typ 100 kanske?

No, I don't know what planes it own. I know he only show US and american allies technology thought, and that he seems to get soooo horny on whatever explosives :) In any case they said 4, maybe even 6 planes in the show, but they didn't said what planes, and I expect there to be difference in them. So just because it can beat 4 "whatever" planes doesn't mean it can beat 4 of _WHATEVER_ plane ;D I hope and guess that the russians will outperform the americans with the T-50/1.44 as normal, but

... in any case I won't take his 4-6 planes as 4-6 of any plane. Just as 4-6 of whatever plane they wanted to compare with. I don't doubt that the F-22 are probably the best plane which are in service and usable atm thought.
