By request. Some of you will recognize such notable photographers as George Hurrell, Clarence Sinclair Bull, William Walling, Otto Dyer, and Robert Coburn as the creators of some of the portraits shown here. The music is what is generally considered the definitive version of "All The Things You Are" by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra with Jack Leonard on vocals, recorded in 1939. It was composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics written by Oscar Hammerstein II. Max and I (mostly Max, I got burned out :) have restored these images and donated them to Dr. Macro's site where you can find some of them on her Annex pages. The rest will show up there eventually: http://www.doctormacro.info/

This is a good version, but if you want an even more spectacular version of this Jerome Kern song go to the Artie Shaw version with Helen Forrest as his vocalist. I like Jack Leonard, though (who sings it here with Tommy Dorsey's band). But I'd rather something like Cole Porter's "In The Still Of The Night", "The Lamp Is Low", or of course, "Marie".

Absolutely :) Oh, the 20s and 30s had a lot of glamour and cash being thrown around in Hollywood but you're right, nothing like it since. So trashy now. Glad you liked the music! Thanks so much for your nice comments and for watching. Best, jane :)

Yes, I totally agree! And yes, a real star! So few of those around now. I'm sure she would have done well dramatically too. She does have that contemporary allure. More than we can say about most contemporary actresses! Thanks so much for such wonderful comments about her, jane :)
