Seriously..... what... buy common sense? You can buy an education mate, not a brain (which you need to get into uni in the first place).

I dont care about the petrol version, why would i want to add to the expenses of running one if i couldnt afford to run a vxr (or couldnt justify running one) anyway.

I hear Mcdonalds are handing out degrees now, maybe he studies there. I guess the old chip fat would come in handy

You guys are ... ( 6 months ago by rollofthefarm)
You guys are hilarious, you should form a comedy duo, perhaps nob and cheese? something similar? You came on here with your generalisations about diesels being slow, despite the video above showing impressive hot hatch performance, and now having realised that not everyone is after performance at any cost have decided that perhaps it is easier to slate me than the 888. Strong show for you boys.
I recall the ... ( 6 months ago by peterfarrow)
I recall the slating started with you bragging about being a highly intellectual university student and that the inference was everyone else was somehow rather inferior. I already have my degree from a redbrick university, you seem to have come unstuck when you played the education card. The bottom line is what waste tuning a diesel and that argument has never been countered. I've tried to keep this funny and it has been amusing. I hope you do well in your education, no need to be rude...
i was explaining my ... ( 6 months ago by rollofthefarm)
i was explaining my choice of car by saying i was a university student (University of Brum so Red Brick also), hence had no money, i never lorded my education over anyone.i was just pointing out that the diesel is a good buy for someone who wants performance and reliability. I never viewed the 888 as being a tuned model as it could have been produced by Vauxhall as a standard car, and judged it on its own merit than as a souped up version. I dont take this seriously either, thankyou
cool. ( 6 months ago by peterfarrow)
cool.
The point of diesel ... ( 6 months ago by 98vectra)
The point of diesel is economy but you got to admit diesel has come on a long way in past years and they do shift and give petrol a run for there money.I think in a few years time diesel will wipe the floor with petrol and dont forget 45% of cars sold in uk are diesel.

Read some, but not all of the comments on here. Most quite amusing, sort of agree with various points from both sides of the fence. 1st off though, I apologies for my crap spelling (Dyslexia)
Just some thoughts of my own in reply to others....Audi seem to be doing quite well with their diesel race car, guess it's not a real sports car though, only for the track and all that.
Cont...I think you ... ( 5 months ago by DJBigMac)
Cont...I think you will find that the mods to the 888 car are covered by the standard warranty, even if they were not (This car is not made any more) the new 16v 150Bhp CDTi can be chipped to 210BHP easily, this is a Vauxhall approved mod, and is covered by warranty, and having just driven an Astravan with this mod, I have to say I was well impressed. It certainly felt quicker than my Type R, and OTR for
£14K new...........Can't think of a new hot hatch as fast at that price.
Cont. I agree, ... ( 5 months ago by DJBigMac)
Cont. I agree, choosing a fast car on economy grounds is a little sad, however if costs were no object then I guess we would all drive a super car of some description. I, personally, would love an Evo, but the thought of 20mpg and servicing every 3500 miles, every 8 weeks for me, is a bit prohibitive. Anyway it may be that I get the van. Mmm GTI baiting 0-60 in 6 seconds, 145 Mph. in an Astravan, and 50mpg if I drive it normally, there is something quite attractively perverse about that.

Hmm, I used to have an Astra VXR. Rolling start, if she stuck it in 3rd, rolling at 30mph she would have dusted him. It was crap off the line as the power band is too short and it revved to quick, so you had to skip gears. However 30-70mph it went like a b******
