remove the "Coverage" hysteria. Move to a Single-Payer health care system. You break a leg, get in that hospital, get treatment, no bills, walk out. Free. No more bills. Support H.R. 676

That is unrealistic ... ( 2 weeks ago by Elizabeth01010101)
That is unrealistic. Many people - even those "employed" - would have a hard time with this and an even harder time meeting their high deductible if/when something happened that required medical help. - A better idea would be if your plan applied only to those who earn a certain income range, say 75k annually...
I have worked in ... ( 2 weeks ago by EyeCWorld2008)
I have worked in insurance for over 20 years. I can tell you why UHC makes sense over private care. Insurance companies do not compete in COST. They compete in SERVICE. Costs are pretty much fixed. No one will reduce premiums so low, share holders sell their stock. So they have to compete in service; providing a little more or special services for the same premiums. UHC would allow the same service for the smallest cost. Same level of service, same product, wider coverage, smaller cost.
The whole argument ... ( 2 weeks ago by professorenigma)
The whole argument that "47 million americans" are without health care is bogus. It includes illegal aliens, people who are young and choose to go without insurance, people who qualify for SCHIP and Medicaid and don't enroll and people who switched jobs and had to go without it for 30-60 days. It's a dog-and-pony show.

Hey everyone, I just got a message in my inbox from the user DENIMBLUEINDIGO and I challenged him on his erroneous statements that there are 47 million Americans without health care. He provided no details but did say this:
"Do you ever watch the news? Do you ever read newspapers? If it's a bogus claim, well, I don't feel so bad spreading it because it's everywhere on the news, in newspapers, the internet, etc. My local news just reported the same story yesterday morning."

Universal Health ... ( 1 week ago by darthscumbagus)
Universal Health Care replaces the heavily government regulated insurance companies and weds the government itself with health care. Doctors used to be able to charge the minimum (what people can afford) now they charge they MAXIMUM (what insurance companies afford)making prices skyrocket. When UCH takes effect expect to have 10-20% or more taken out of your paycheck in taxes to pay for illegal immigrants who paid no taxes. Look up what Doctor Ron Paul says rather than Lawyer Barack Obama says..
UHC has some ... ( 16 hours ago by indoctus41)
UHC has some pitfalls, but they can be overcome. What Americans are never told is that potentially the total cost to each person could be less because profit vanishes and the gov't sets the fees. However there is a lack of incentive for good care. Britain has fixed this by offering bonuses for successful treatments. Canada suffers from poor care, as well as its costly referral program and the lack of coverage for drugs. This excludes it as a good model. I would follow France, Britain, or Taiwan.

professorenigma:
Your entry is meaningless and manipulative because you did not provide percentages. In any case that is only part of the problem, as a gap has been created between what coverage people assume they have, and what they actually have. Private insurers will act the way they act, whether it's your
house, car, or health. They are unconcerned with anything but maximizing profit by increasing premiums and limiting payments.

Private insurers... are unconcerned with anything but maximizing profit."
You have evidently done no research in the area of why premiums increase. For one, the number of mandates has risen dramatically in past decades and as the gov't gets more involved in health care, prices continue to increase. On another point, who goes into business to not make money? I hope you
realize how silly you sound.
"I would follow ... ( 13 hours ago by professorenigma)
"I would follow France, Britain, or Taiwan." [Chuckles], you do realize the NHS is going broke and just to post a few examples: Americans are much more likely to get an organ tranplant here and far more likely to survive that transplant for one year. Check your facts.
professorenigma: ... ( 11 hours ago by indoctus41)
professorenigma: Where are your percentages?? Your research is full of holes because you simply don't know how many people 'choose' not to have health insurance, nor do you know how many illegals are included in the 47 million, if any.
And your view of mandates driving up prices is only correct in a flooded market, and is not the real issue here as HMO's have gained excessive profits. Your scenario would show HMO's struggling to exist, which is not even close.
You know little ... ( 11 hours ago by indoctus41)
You know little about UHC. The concept of 'going broke' doesn't apply. The struggle in UHC is always between gov't budgets and public services.
The worst that can be said is that the budget fails to match actual costs, but that is a far cry from 'going broke' in a free market sense. It boggles the mind that people who would deny their neighbor a necessary medical treatment will at the same time gladly spill billions for misguided war eff
orts, with all its profiteering and corruption.

"Where are your percentages??" freewebs..com/professor_enigma/universalhealthcare..htm
I have plenty of figures and statistics; health care in the UK is indeed a train werck. Certainly haven't seen any hard data from you, I wonder how long that will take. All of your questions are answered at the URL I supplied. I wonder if you were upset when Michael Moore demonized some of those N
ON-PROFIT hospitals in Sicko.
"The worst that can ... ( 10 hours ago by professorenigma)
"The worst that can be said is that the budget fails to match actual costs." You're becoming a laughingstock. Look at why CT and WI scrapped their universal health care plans, it would've literally broke the state budget. In fact, the plan in CT was larger than the state budget.
"gladly spill billions for misguided war efforts." I see you're trying to get off the subject. I won't take the bait but I will say that entitlements eat up a much larger portion of the budget than the war in Iraq.
"It boggles the ... ( 10 hours ago by professorenigma)
"It boggles the mind that people who would deny their neighbor a necessary medical treatment." It's against the law to deny anyone medical treatment whether they are a legal citizen or not, whether they have insurance or not. Nice straw man argument.
I just noticed you ... ( 10 hours ago by professorenigma)
I just noticed you are from Canada and your country ranks among the lowest in the industrialized world for doctors per ten thousand people. Far more women in your country go without mammograms than they do here and despite your country markedly increasing health care spending; waiting times there continue to increase.
professorenigma: ... ( 5 hours ago by indoctus41)
professorenigma: Wow. You even have the arrogance to lie to me about my own system. That really takes balls.
You say things but you don't put it in context. Waitimg times are longer. Sounds like a Tide commerical. "Our product is 50% better" "Our car polish gives you a better shine" You persistently make blanket statements such as your reference that 47 million figure is corrupt, BUT you refuse to quant
ify your entry with percentages, presumably because that would kill your argument.
professorenigma: ... ( 5 hours ago by indoctus41)
professorenigma: Rubbish. Believe your own propaganda if you want, but from my own experience while visiting Toledo, a store clerk looked depressed and when I enquired, she told me her HMO had denied coverage to her son for treatment. I found this woman only hours after entering the US.
Now if you listen to Lou Dobbs and never talk to anyone, I suppose you might believe what you say. HMO's deny coverage all the time, and whistleblowers are on record to prove it.
professorenigma: No ... ( 5 hours ago by indoctus41)
professorenigma: No No. You made the ludicrous statement. Don't look at me to disprove your nonsense re the corrupted 47 million figure.
