"leaf spring" is a form of suspension support and "independent suspension" is a large genre of suspensions, the two has nothing to do with each other. corvette's transverse leaf springs act just like coil springs on other cars.

well yes but its not so well known that GM loses money on every ZO6. making something that goes that well for so little money and making a profit is practically impossible so if they were to sell it at a reasonable profit with the forethought to make enough money to fund the development of another one - it would cost nearly as much as a ferrari. ferrari only make supercars so they cant subsidize their development costs with smaller cheaper cars like GM can. thus the MASSIVE price difference.

"leafsprings like a pram or an ox cart" That's like saying "the Ferrari coil suspension is a wound up torsion spring usually found under a Renault 4 or "the 911 has its engine over the back axle like a pre-war beetle". JC fails to recognise that an ox cart's leafsprings aren't quite the same as a transversley mounted carbon fibre leafspring in a double wishbone suspension. GM (like Ferrari and Porsche) have evolved over the years and now have a light and easy to maintain suspension system.
