i hate to sound uber emotional, lol...but i just came to listen for the umpteenth time and i closed my eyes and saw so many visions!! it's the music of my mind. i can see every note of this played out. i'm going to have to figure out a way to translate this into what i see when i hear it. thank you wdr and of course yellow jackets!
question to ...( 6 months ago by Jiwpgakis)
question to drummers: I'm a guitar player but sometimes I play drums, I'm right handed but a only can play the hihat and cybals with my left arm and the snare with my right, the foot does not matter, now, this drummer guy, does he has his rightcymbal on the left side because he plays like an lefthanded player but actually does not wanted to change the hole set?
He plays like Billy ...( 5 months ago by stretch54)
He plays like Billy Cobham does, in that he plays left handed..but right footed. His drums are set up like any other right handed drummer would play. This way he doesn't have to cross his hands to play hi-hat. If it's the way you learned and can get comfortable with it...it's probably the best way to approach the kit.

oh thank you, I've always been wondering about that, but I think the best way to play for me is to play with a left hand kid, which is strange due to my "righthandedness"

I,m really impress by this guitarist- anyway - I'm a right-handed drummer; right hand on hi-hat, left on snare. That's how I learned to play. But, I think the best thing is to be able to play both ways. I would practice simple grooves with my left hand on the hi-hat(right on snare) until I became comfortable with it. I think that improves your over-all playing.

The drum parts for ...( 5 months ago by 36index)
The drum parts for yellowjackets cira 1987 -1996 were signature Will Kennedy parts. That sound/period will never be duplicated. Marcus will have to lay his own ground work, just like Will did. Will's parts were so musical that they just seemed like they were made for each of the songs during his tenure with that band. "Jacket" fans will get used to Marcus in time, because he is an awesome drummer as well. Support the Yellowjackets; keep buying their CD's

Most of these guys are standing and stitting too "still!" with the exception to nguy én lé, William K, the dude on the Sax, and the Bass Player. If I were part of that ensemble I'd be grooving! I wouldn't be able to sit still with a groove like this! Especially with nguyén lé on guitar! ( ^ _ ^ ) This is much too good to just stand still! Get up and move something people!

36index- you hit the nail on the head - The thing is that Will set the bar so high... Maybe I'm a little biased, but Marcus has a task on his hands if he wants to keep the ear of the yellowjackets old school fan base. Like you said, he can't re-invent Will's wheel.lol He's gonna has to have an ORGANIC approach, listen to his fellow musicians and let them "pull out" of him what needs to be played. As for buying CD's...we'll see! I already have a great collection! lol peace

WOW!!! I am new to youtube and thought I'd see if there'd be any YellowJackets stuff on here and this is what I hit. Damn, I am a lucky man. I didn't think Azure Moon could sound any better, but I was wrong. It is incredible with a big band and the guitaring ... !!! I can't stop listening to it!
Does anyone know how I can get this version onto an IPod? Can I just save it to my IPod from here?
