Lu was robbed. Kwan's performance was mechanical and slow compared to Lu's. I think the judges wanted a new champion and felt that Chen had her world title already.

No prob....this was one of the rare performances where one forgets about the technical elements being performed. They just appear as lovely decorative touches that accent the majestic music.The jumps give the appearance of being totally different from everyone else.

It's interesting, Lu chen had many problems with performing this program throughout the season, while Kwan had skated Salome nearly perfectly every time. Did this effect the judges? I felt that her 2nd 3-lutz represented the fact that everything came together for her (the sun came out in the music too.) In my mind all of her former troubles had been forgotten, it all came together when it counted, and I would have given her the gold.

Michelle out spun Lu. Lu's flip was a bit higher. I tell ya I would have hated to judge this event. It was very close. Michelle's program had more fire, where Lu's was very calm and reserved maybe that made the difference. Not all the judges agreed and I'm sure fans will argue about it forever.

Spinning in the old system, used at this time, was a secondary skill, the jumps gave more weight to the marks. :)

Who cares which of Chen or Kwan should have won. Both were outstanding that night, there was no loser and the biggest winner that night was skating.
