omg....this seagal is a beast.....hes whipping those guys around like they were dolls or something. This guy has the technique, the spirit, the long limbs, which I believe help him very much to bring people down, that and he uses gravity a lot. He is strong and confident. I would hate to upset this guy. And then someone like this, to shoot him from a distance? I'd rather get my ass whipped than resort to being proven a coward and doing what anyone could do to an adversary.short of it,UNBEATABLE
Question: Does this ...( 1 month ago by zpedalkin)
Question: Does this ilk of martial art have a tangible application in the real world?
Answer: No. It has tangible application in movies and lame demos like Seagal puts on. My sincere advice, if you want to learn how to fight and defend yourself, seriously consider Muay Thai.

Well, having just spent a month in Thailand I'd have to agree.Thai boxing seems to make the practitioner 'immune' to pain or something! I mean, the beating some of those 'small' Thai guys take and still barely grimace is nothing short of... disturbing! : /
I was just hoping (naively) there really WAS an method of self defense that entailed little more than just standing there and flinging opponents around the room! It seems that 'style' only exists in Seagal's straight-to-video filmic duds! >_>

Pain is one thing ...( 3 weeks ago by SuperLazyLearner)
Pain is one thing but your bones have some limits of movement, and Aikido is all about that
If you resist you feel awful pain the one you feel before something breaks, it seems fake because those guys know that if they will resist they will be not able to do Aikido for a couple of weeks.
Another thing is that Aikido is open to disabled and old people. My master had a car accident, he dropped Judo because of his condition and started Aikido
Just go for a course to see by yourself

nothing worse than ...( 3 weeks ago by WeAreAxeholes)
nothing worse than some some novice talking about martial arts and what is better. There are fighters and there are spectators. The truth is there is no perfect style or better style. Style limits your ability, setting a line that you will not pass because you are obligated to your style.

aikido aikido, what ...( 3 weeks ago by vajrass)
aikido aikido, what i have learnt is that agression and anger are not graceful, the awareness that aikido provides when facing multiple attackers is something i never learnt doing muay thai. regardless of toughness gettings smacked in the head from behind hurts!!!! i like that aikido also trains for defense against some weapons you might encounter in a bar fight! (swingin bottle) ultimately though avoiding a fight is something hotheads with something to prove is something not learnt rather sougt

lol and if anyone who is good in aikido gets a pin or a throw on you, you want to know how to breakfall and relax, otherwise break

Let's see an MMA/UFC master perform this "test" with Fedor, Rampage Jackson, and Kevin Randleman. Oh wait, I forgot, MMA/UFC is only one-on-one, in a ring, with a referee, so he probably wouldn't know how to deal with MORE THAN ONE opponent. He probably would take one to the ground with a sacrifice throw and then get his head kicked in by the other two...
