The truth is Stephanie won the part because she'd been playing dorthy on the wiz since it opend on broadway, so she was the 1st one they considered in the movie, but Diana wanted that part because she always felt like dorthys story was like her's, and EVERYONE was against her including Berry until she "Persuaded" him to letting her have it, and she was 34 and the part was for 14 (and stephanie was 18)
