I had borrowed Brilliant Trees from a friend, but it had gotten an ugly scratch while in my possesion. So I bought him a new one. Later that day we were invited to a friend's birthday, and i bought her a copy. While playing my own copy at home I became anoyed with the scratch and just managed to buy a new one before closing-time. 10 Years later the owner of the record-store still remembered this, and asked me for an explanation...

Lucky you to find it so easy, where I live it was and still is hard to find David Sylvian music. I still have to special order his albums, but no matter he is worth it. It is hard to find exceptional singers like him nowadays.

last time david played Dublin he was mobbed outside. it was really mad with fans shaking the van, like the age profile was wrong for such a reaction! ie its not westlife !! i think david was surprised. ayway he must of liked it cause he is playing dublin again in Sept. Yes I got autograph onto my "gone to earth" album. and yes I have front row tickets for the Sept show ,cant wait love the guys work .

The last time David Sylvian came to the USA was up north which is way far from the State where I live, but I will keep my eyes open for the next time and plan a trip to see him, I hope to see him before I depart this earth. It must have been a thrill to see him live, and autographed album to top that.

Quite Surreal David is underated. He is an aquired taste for sure but he does have talent and has been around for almost 30 years. You can see why Duran Duran used him for inspiration especially Nick Rhodes

I bought the Brilliant trees album vinyl and had to take it back four times as it was scratched to f*ck. in the end got money back and never re-bought it. what i do rememeber is that there was a track on it called Nostalgia which was superb - drowning in my Nostalgia

Cheers Suey67 - I am glad my memory still serves me well. Japan were a band i had to pretend not to like as i was a Nutty Boy as were my mates (The Beat, The Specials, Madness etc)i am glad i eventually grew up and could appeciate music for what it is and not to be part of a movement. Still love Ska though
