ok lets start saying the paradise lost was the first band introducing female vocals in tothe metal scene ...making the perfect blend.Paradise Lost is all about change without compromise with their fans....attacking different crowds all over the world (keeping the same message in their songs) they are risk takers, leaving compromise on the side but pleasant the people that love music!!

After Forever are more Symphonic Prog Metal than Gothic Metal, Leaves Eyes are Symphonic Metal they have never released a Gothic Metal album, Lovelorn & Vinland Saga are Sympho not Gothic, as great as they all are Paradise Lost are still better, Paradise Lost invented Gothic Metal & kept it alive, plus the whole female-fronted thing is gettin old,

Paradise Lost played DoomMetall back then. Ask anyone who knows, ask THEM if you like. Gothic has evolved from Paradise Losts sound of that days and in reference to their Album "Gothic". When PL playes it, there was no GothicMetal yet. PL is(was) DoomMetal. Period.

Ofcourse there was gothic befor. The true wave/gothic scene from the early 80's - but those goths and metal didn't fare to well with each other, could even be called befiended. This only changed in the 90's when parts of both scenes merged to the new gothic-metal-subculture. And Paradise Lost was one of, if not THE most influencial bands towards this changes.
