You miss one thing. She simply HAD to lose, so that Uchiha would go after Gaara and blah blah. That's what the producers wanted her to be. It doesn't mean that she'd be weak.
And the Hinata-thing..She has an advantage. That Byakugan bloodline. The same goes for Yamanaka. Temari and the other principal girls aren't born with such a power;they gain it in time. So that's why some may think that Hinata is the strongest. In fact, I think that her sister has surpassed her.

I think Sasuke would've won if they were on full chakra and neither had a handicap.
Temari's long range, just cant keep up with Sasuke's both middle - close range jutsu.
He'd gain in on her at some point, and thus he is able to read her movement, and predict her steps. In this fight it was Clearly Sasuke who was the smarter one, and that is also a factor.
