It is true we don't have any definite knowledge, but given that we can't say anything is false. Being a cross-dresser, for lack of a better word, and a homosexual I can very easily believe that she was abused by her mother. Not many parents are thrilled when their little boy wants to wear his mothers clothes. And being homosexual itself isn't easy. Psychological pain can be overcome, but so can financial situations, etc. All things can be overcome.

It all comes down to trust, and I'm sorry if you can't/won't trust what she puts into her art. That fines for you; but just because you consider her suffering miniature compared to others does not mean she does not deserve the attention she gets because of her art. Also, she is admired for her art, not her suffering.

Her art is rediculous and offensive. So what if she is transgender? I am friends with many transgender people, most with less than nice childhoods, and they are living happy and fulfilled lives. For my job, I travel all over the world, seeing third world children in REAL pain and to get back to my original comment (which you retards neg'ed, simply because it was different than yours) she chooses to suffer (if she suffers) and therefore this is not art, it is an offensive ploy for attention.

When the little girl grows up (as this artist OBVIOUSLY has) they can CHOOSE to let the person who hurt them continue to have power over their life by making them miserable, or they can CHOOSE to let it go, forgive, deal with it (however you want to think about it) and live a fulfilled life despite them.

If this person wanted to get past those feelings (which I seriously doubt this person has, I believe this is all a ploy for attention) they could be over them by now.
