Rumors was monumental in that it broke the record for sales in a single year by nearly doubling the then title holder.
1971 saw Carol King's "Tapestry" sell 9 million copies. "Rumors" doubled it at 18 million in 1977.
It's a drag that everything emploded just as this album hit it big.
An article in Time Magazine years later about ABBA told how their love lives "pulled a Fleetwood Mac." LOL! Funny to think that the entire western world knows exactly what that means! ROFL!!!

I just noticed something interesting -- if you tune out all the voices momentarily (especially towards the end of the song)and listen only to the music, then you hear a tune that has similar sound, structure and guitar work as several of the tunes off of U2's "Joshua Tree".
I wonder ... has U2 ever acknowledged the debt?
