They aren't let in "power", the have none.
(Legally the Queen can refuse to sign a Government bill but it's never likely to happen in this day and age - the last time it happened was 300 years ago.)
So as you can see, to most Brits (and tourists), the royal family is just a mickey-mouse figurehead, with no impact on our daily lives.
