The version with John Wayne is a easter egg on the Gremlins 2 DVD, I would know because I have it and I found the hidden video. the DVD itself has the Hulk Hogan version but the Cable TV version mostly skipped that part since it's being shown on TV

This was one of the best parts of Gremlins 2 but what I really loved were those Looney Tunes segments, which is sort of ironic cause Joe Dante also directed Looney Tunes: Back in Action.
