Its amazing how many skilled people were involved in the manufacture of a car then, real jobs too.

Undersealing (rustproofing) consisted of brushing black bitumen on the underside. This was usually an extra which had to be paid for.There was no wax injection or galvanised steel used then so most cars rusted quickly in the sixties. If you got five years out of a car then without serious rust and holes you had done well.
