This would be nothing if the AMLemans did not de-regulate GT cars coming from the JDM unless it is v4, h4, or inline4. What happens when you come in with a v6, i6 GT that has steel that handles any amount of air forced induction because of the type of steel the engine is bored with? A GT car from the JDM that will eventually be de-regulated just like all the ones that have passed. Fist-pass- detroit speedway hall of fame. Not one GT Aston in there? Yeah thats what I though.

The aston martin crew should feel more shame, because the corvette was on older tires and the aston crew changed their tires during the safety car. If anything this video is a good indication of the level of dedication and mental focus the corvette team and corvette drivers are capable off. With bad tires there were still 1 and 2 while aston martin only had 1 car in the race with Pedro Lamy desperately trying to get by with newer tires than the vette.

i dont think they are dominant, lets see if they can keep it going. In 2008 they had 1 car that won it Corvette came 2nd and 3rd. This video was in 2006 corvette racing won it again for the 5th consecutive time. So I think Aston has a long way to go before they can even be considered dominant. Lemans officials even named some of the curves around the lemans track as "corvette curves" recognizing the dominance of the team and the car. Lets see if Aston can get there.

corvette has one gt1 class 5 times because there hasnt been a serious competition apart from in 2006 but aston was only in its second year of a new car so the experience wasnt there but now its showing the pace and the drivers.

I agree... seems like two very high strung, very highly tuned racecars.... comes down to which team has got it more tightly together and which drivers are more on edge. Best rivalry in modern racing.

both the C6R and the DBR9 are extraordinary pieces of machinery, and which car wins on this competition is more of a question of the driver's skill with those two. too bad there wasn't much of a long-time rivalry between those two...

That's what I think. Corvette won 2005 an 2006, and Aston won 2007 and 2008. We'll have to see who wins 2009.

The only reason why Aston Martin has wan the last two Le Mans is that IMSA and the European Le Mans Series restricted the intake size on the Corvette and added weight, and allowed Aston to make their intakes bigger. They used to be the same size and weight. But it wasn't fair to the wittle Aston cuz they were getting outrun and out engineered by the us Dumb Yanks. Its not an even playing field.
