Michelle usually did what she said she was going to do. We love her because some of us grew up watching her mature and saw her fall then rise again. It's not easy to make errors in any profession, and it's no more easy to pick yourself up infront of a few thousand people when you do. Through failure, great accomplishment, and work ethic; She has earned the right to be remembered as no less than one of the greatest athletes ever! Isn't she entitled to a little down time after 13yrs? GEEZ

1:15 - 1:30 Dick Button has *no* idea what he is saying! Michelle often turned him into a blubbering idiot but never more than here. IloveitIloveit indeed!

I just watched Sasha's performance and Michelle was not reacting to Sasha's falls. For one thing, Sasha was 4th after the short program and thus couldn't beat Michelle unless someone else did (since Michelle was first after the short). It is very unlikely that Michelle was even watching Sasha's performance, but even if she was, it's clear that her smile was because she realized she was on camera and not because Sasha fell.

Such a phenominal performer. Wow! The look on her face at the end of her performance was priceless!

This is an Olympic Gold medal performance. She has had so many Olympic Gold worthy performances.
She holds back/makes silly mistakes at teh Olympics because there's something about it that shakes her up.
It's a mental thing. Everyone knows Michelle is exceptional and a once in a lifetime. She does not need Olympic Gold. Longevity speaks volumes. 9 nationals and 5 worlds is a HUGE accomplishment.
No one will ever come close to that, ever.

I remember watching her when I was younger, not even knowing how to multiply, and I loved her so much.
This brought back memories.
I loved it :]

Those Oly rings sometimes weigh too heavy for some: Kim Zmeskal, Shannon Miller, Kurt Browning, Bourne/Kraatz (02), Johnny Weir; really a shame..

This is my favorite world championship performance of hers. I think I like it most because she came in with no expectations, was very relaxed the whole time and you can clearly see that she's enjoying every second. To still walk away with the top prize just made it perfect!

My beloved Dad died ...( 1 month ago by heartofmercy)
My beloved Dad died suddenly on November 29, 2002, the day after Thanksgiving. The first time that I felt..really FELT...unexpected joy after that was watching the 2003 Worlds, when Michelle began her straight line footwork in this long program. I remember gasping with delight. It was as though I had suddenly found a lighted passage while stumbling around in a dark tunnel. The lightness, abandon and pure celebration of that sequence still remains one of my "aha" moments, and a touchstone.

Michelle never ever watches her competition skates. Many of them don't it just add on to their jitters and stress. Please when Michelle gave a thumbs down it was in jest and that was in a fluff competition. Also, Michelle has been given low marks for many competitions ex: a great Red Violin performance and she was given like a 5.7 for that brilliant skate. I would stuck my middle finger at the corrupt judges and COP

In 2000 she was given 5.7s and 5.8s for techinical merit and 5.8s and 5.9s for presentation for her Red Violin performance at Worlds. While her skate was outstanding she was only 3rd after the short, and her two main rivals Slutskaya and Butyrskaya were yet to skate so they had to leave some room. So the marks were fair.
Miller and Weir as ...( 4 weeks ago by quirotmutolafan)
Miller and Weir as examples make no sense. Miller in 1992 shocked people by winning 5 medals, nearly won the AA, and was probably the only top gymnast to perform at her best from start to finish. In 96 she won team and beam golds, the only events she really had a chance at there. Miller maxed out her Olympics potential.
Weir in 2006 didnt medal but he was not favored to medal. He never won a world medal until his bronze this year. Plush, Lambiel, Buttle, Joubert, were all favored over him.
Actually Miller ...( 3 weeks ago by 1andonlyCobra)
Actually Miller shouldve medaled if not won the 96 AA title after Silver in Barcelona and wins at 93 and 94 worlds..that why i say she felt that pressure...
As for Weir, he melted in the LP (whether he was expected to medal or not) especially after such an amazing SP where he was in 2nd; so yes he fits in the analogy too...

Miller was not a favorite for the 96 AA gold. In 94 she was 17, not 19, and gymnasts like Mo, Lilia, Khorkina, were not matured yet. By 95 as they matured and she aged they surpassed her and she now needed mistakes to beat them. She was never going to beat Lilia since Lilia by then was superior to her on all but beam.
Weir did the LP he usually did. It wasnt a meltdown. It was a nearly clean skate but as usual with a poorly composed program with a terribly arranged jump layout for COP.
