Flacodanielon - I'd say that art is the most subjective thing in the world!
Sorry, but what you written is complete garbage and unfortunately it is now in the public domain. Your lack of objectivity borders on prejudice and makes what you have written appear completely unprofessional, so when you say 'musician' it must be a self-proclaimed title! Please type the name of your favourite singer in the search box and run along and enjoy yourself.
I am interested in ...( 1 day ago by colster1992thfc)
I am interested in setting up a music band sometime in the next 2-3 years and was wondering if anyone was interested in joining this. Sometime in the next few months I will be getting a vocal coach and would like to be part of a band that will audition for Britain's Got Talent. If anyone is interested, lives in the UK and is a teenager then message me.
Trico, I'm not so ...( 1 day ago by kenkirbyuk)
Trico, I'm not so sure you meet with such snobbery here. Personally, I believe what Potts did was very brave and he certainly has talent, you can't take that away from him. The issue comes down to people making comparisons or even saying he is better, which is just ridiculous. If the 'millions' have chosen and love Paul, then fantastic - but don't go comparing apples with oranges. Also, why do it here - what you will find is objection to derogatory comments about Pav on a post dedicated to him.

You said a lot and you said nothing...
I'm being objective. I'm talking about being
tuned, dynamics and tempo... You are
just stammering.
Do you even know ...( 1 day ago by kenkirbyuk)
Do you even know what objectivity is? Let me explain - it is a view on a topic made without bias, yet you are clearly biased. "Don't be blinded by his fame" is clearly a biased comment and you also say verbatim, "music is the most subjective thing in the world". Please explain whether you're objective or subjective, because so far your sentences have been a stream of conciousness. Pavarotti was known for having perfect pitch; what you're saying is nonsense and you certainly don't sound smart.
Potts was a phone ...( 1 day ago by Agorante)
Potts was a phone salesman but then again Pavarotti was an insurance salesman. Kiri Te Kanawa was a secretary I believe and Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard. People aren't born world famous unless they are in the British Royal Family.
Typically you don't become a professional singer until you are about 25 so if you want to eat you do something else. Also typically young singers enter contests. Carreras was a contest winner.
The problem with Potts is that he just isn't very good.
Flacodanielon ...( 1 day ago by Agorante)
Flacodanielon complains that Pavarotti is singing sharp. Could be. Bjoerling was likewise accused of pushing the high notes sharp. Also the great baritone Nicolae Herlea.
I don't hear it, or more accurately I can't hear it. Pitch discrimination varies among listeners. I think I can distinguish flat singing better than sharp singing. Or it may just be that singing flat is more common.
If your ears are so sensitive that you hear Pavarotti as sharp - my condolences.

Agorante - I think I detect a distinct hint of patience in your comments - Flacodanielon's earlier comment that his timing was out and he was screaming at the end is just ridiculous. Perhaps though our friend does have very sensitive ears so maybe we should all be more considerate to his condition...maybe even set up a charity!

ive been playing the guitar for 20 years now and i can tell straight away when someone or something is out of pitch. Paverotti nailed it. note perfect.
Potts mit Pavarotti ...( 1 day ago by St0len1983)
That's what I would ...( 1 day ago by Agorante)
That's what I would have said. I believe that string players need better pitch perception than say piano players.
Pavarotti was what might be called a "perfect" singer - like Bjoerling. However I also appreciate imperfect singers like Jon Vickers or Helge Roswange.
To criticize Pavarotti's vocal technique is just silly.
I suspect that the "timing" criticism meant just the use of rubato. Again this is sill y.

To be honest with you people, this is fuckin boring. I don't get it. why people listen to this. it doesn't make sense. Pavarotti is just shouting in whatever language and punch of people listen to him in fully quiet like they actually can understand him. ILOL

Then listen to what turns you on. Pavarotti seems a bit tired in this performance and although it is beautifully sung, not as flowing as in other of his performances of the aria. Thans for checking out Pavarotti!

Don't I wish!! But the soul (feeling) in his interpretation touches all who care to listen. With Pavarotti's singing I am not aware of 'technique,' etc., only the beauty of the aria (song).

If I could listen to only one singer it would be Pavarotti. For the benefit of his health I wish he would have controlled his diet more carefully (I love to eat too).

Paul Potts cannot be compared to Pavarotti just for winning a contest, he ´s a good singer, but please, don´t even go there.
By the way, I can´t help myself from shedding a tear at the end of the song when he says "al alba vincero, VINCERO!!" with such strength, even if you can´t understand a word in Italian you can almost feel what he feels.
People like Luciano wi ll never die.
