Vincent Dubois has performed in many countries throughout Europe as well as the USA. He won the Recital Gold Medal at the 2002 Royal Bank Calgary International Organ Festival and Competition, and most recently, the 1st Grand Prix in the 2002 International Competition of Toulouse. Mr. Dubois curren
tly teaches harmony and counterpoint at Angers National Conservatory where in 2005 he was appointed assistant-manager of the conservatory. He is also the titular organist at the Cathedral of Soissons. Mr. Dubois was invited by Daniel Roth, titular organist of St. Sulpice in Paris, to make a recordin
g for JAV Recordings on the 1862 Cavaille-Coll Organ. This instrument is one of the great French builder's masterpieces which comes down to us as the builder left it. This disc will include organ music of Lizst, Duruflé, Rachmaninoff, Mozart and an improvisation by Mr. Dubois. It was recorded on Ma
y 13, 2006 and will be available in SACD surround sound in 2007. This film was made late on the evening of May 11, 2006 at St. Sulpice. I took a cab across Paris and met Michel Goussu (organ curator of St. Sulpice) at the back door around 10pm. Vincent was practicing Franz Liszt's Evocation of the S
istine Chapel. They practiced while I took lots of photos, and before midnight I filmed my video which contains the Liszt and the first movement of Widor's 6th Organ Symphony.

Dubois is the ABSOLUTE CAT'S MEOW, people!
We heard him live at Baylor University in Waco this year---he played Franck's (UTTERLY DREADFUL) "Grande Piece Symphonique," the Durufle Suite, and Widor VI---all completely by memory---and it was UNBELIEVABLE!
(EVERYBODY---who is ANYBODY---plays by memory, you know!)
The above commentary---about Franck---is editorial; I've just NEVER liked Franck.
Heresy---I know---as---I'm an ORGANIST---and of Flemish extraction. Vincent Dubois ROCKS! Martin
Interesting to ... ( 3 weeks ago by skyler6290)
Interesting to compare Mssrs Dubois and Roth's tempo and overall style of playing the same Widor 6th Final. Of course the ever magnificent Cavaille-Coll instrument sounds as spectacular as always. I don't know why this piece isn't more universally loved as it is so stunning when played with such vigor and drive as these two gentlemen do.
