Here's another idea ... ( 9 months ago by calif909)
Here's another idea to improve voter turnout: Next election, let's make sure that in Black districts there are enough polling places and that they are adequately staffed. Last two Presidential elections, Black voters were disenfranchised by a system rigged to work against them.
Switzerland is of ... ( 9 months ago by Ahippi)
Switzerland is of no interest to politicians, because the features of the Swiss system that keep the peace are the same features that make Swiss politicians unimportant. Do you know the name of the Swiss President now serving out his nonrenewable one-year term? No, you do not (it's Samuel Schmid, but you won't remember tomorrow). His name doesn't matter, and he doesn't matter to the defense of Switzerland .
There is no central ... ( 9 months ago by Ahippi)
There is no central location of Swiss defense, no Pentagon or NORAD into which you can crash a 757 or a black-market Kazakh nuclear weapon. The defense of Switzerland is the entire people of Switzerland itself.

Well, why not vote on Saturday or Sunday, when the most people are able to come?

why not, half the constitution's tossed out the window anyway.
Thats what happens ... ( 9 months ago by Conza88)
Thats what happens in Australia. My opinion, is that as with Tuesdays (as seen in the commercial markets, business declines - so they have cheap Tuesday (at the movies, video stores and with dominoes etc.) don't ask my why, its just a fact. Maybe thats just here in Australia.
Anyway, same ... ( 9 months ago by Conza88)
Anyway, same concept applies to votes. Why don't they want peoples vote? - because only the most fanatical ppl will vote. (make the effort) i.e Christian Republicans. (My opinion, not essentially back up with evidence) as I am pretty ignorant on the issue . A question would be though; WHEN did it become Tuesday, and Has it always been like this? If someone with republican influence, changed it to Tuesday - there, I believe you have your answer.
The voting system ... ( 9 months ago by llangennith)
The voting system is fine. It's just the rotten candidates that aren't worth voting for. And a liberal biased media that covers up the mess. Our rotten candidates will blame anyone else, but themselves, for people not voting for them.
Our country should ... ( 9 months ago by DanimalG88)
Our country should be more important than a work day to anyone old enough to vote. It saddens me that there is no respect for our country anymore. setting bones without anesthesia? thats tremendously dramatic. You press buttons someone else instead of your house on your computer. I don't think it's a bad system at all. Can you imagine how much voter fraud there would be if we were texting or sending our votes via email or IM...
...And a system ... ( 9 months ago by DanimalG88)
...And a system that could police this would cost literally billions of dollars. I love our country as it is and it truly seems to provide the purest sense of democracy. Yes you have to get off your ass to vote but isn't it worth it for such a great cause?
People often don't ... ( 9 months ago by happyprometheus)
People often don't work where they live, yet they do vote localy near the place they live. Hence working people may have some trouble to organise their voting. This means that some have to do it by post, which is not as cermonial and dignified as it could be when doing it at a voting centre.
If you want to fix ... ( 9 months ago by CounterRevolutionary)
If you want to fix the voting system, reject black box voting; return to hand-counted paper ballots.

First of all- Why ... ( 9 months ago by home4ed)
First of all- Why NOT tuesday?
Secondly, I think Americans don't get out and vote because the differences between most candidates seem so minor that there really isn't much choice.I still go out but I think that's whay alot don't.
If a person runs ... ( 8 months ago by RoytheLord)
If a person runs for office, he or she has to pay around $2,000.00 just to get his or her name on the ballot. Why not fix this? Is this fair? Is this what the founding fathers had in mind? Of course not, fix it...
Good video. It is ... ( 8 months ago by SparklestheClown)
Good video. It is true - some of the reasons may no longer matter, but it should matter. While the candidates sometimes are not that exciting, these are our rights, many other countries do not give these rights to their citizens, so we need to fix the security, and respect for the right to vote. And we need to get involved in the candidates to help us all find the best people. IT IS OUR RIGHT AND OUR FREEDOM TO DO SO THAT IS SO PRECIOUS.

nice video, but on your list of voter turnout rankings there was an error. Myanmar was listed a couple spaces higher than the U.S. and I'm pretty sure they aren't even a democracy.
I think more people ... ( 6 months ago by lindac58)
I think more people are likely to vote on a Tues. than a weekend. They will take time before or after work . They don't want to get out of bed on their day off to go vote .We working Americans have little time off to give To much work to do Monday , Wed.church night for some,Thur. ?????? Fri. happy hour . Just a thought .Why not Tuesday ?
It's because you ... ( 4 months ago by dondverg)
It's because you have such a complicated system and the register part. In Norway you only have to show your id and then vote.
