While I would, like everybody else, like to believe this is real, I doubt it. The juggling is real but I think the piano is set so whatever key you hit it plays the right note. So yes, he really has to hit the piano, but it plays the right note, lots of pianos have that setting. He just has to mime doing it.

It's called a sequencer. Eastwood and Menendez both use 'em. It plays the next note no matter where the keyboard is struck. Go to "Juggle Boy" on YouTube and see that it's so easy even a child can do it!

Also: I don't envy the guy at all, in that I'm actually happy that he's found a routine that works for him and his audience. 'ts cool.
I'm just pointing out that he's not "playing a keyboard" (with discrete keys assigned to separate notes) with the balls. It's strange to think of how many people think he is.
And...by-the-by...I can do a 5-ball force-bounce pattern; the one you see him doing in this routine.

It's a simple idea to understand, esp. if you're a juggler.
A 5-ball bounce pattern is a necessarily tight pattern (as is 5 balls "in the air"). Therefore the balls are necessarily striking in a left-right-left-right pattern.
The guy stops (for rests/note duration values), so he could conceivably break with a strict up/down sequence. But when the melody has extended runs, the strike sequence is strictly up-down-up-down-up-down-etc., and obviously the tunes he's playing do nothing of the sort.
