At 8pm on the 29 March 2008 millions of people in some of the world's biggest cities including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane, Tel Aviv and Manila will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.
Earth Hour 2007 was a Sydney event. Earth Hour 2008 is a global movement. Earth Hour is about individual action and how together we can make a difference. Visit Earthhour.org and add your name to the Earth Hour movement.

Is it just me or was this an OK finish to the event? I turned my lights off and all electrical appliances for the full hour in support of Earth Hour. Then at 9:00 to my dismay, FIREWORKS!! Fireworks!!?? On Earth Hour night!! Did somebody screw up because isn't Earth Hour about the environment or were environmentally friendly fireworks used? Am I the only one concerned? Everyone is saying Sydney should be praised, I think we should be horse whipped (at least this is environmentaly friendly).

There is strong scientific evidence from geologists that climate cycles. 1812 -14 was a time of worldwide startvation because of global cooling. That took place because of an average temp change of 6 degrees CAUSED by a VOLCANO, not man. In the turn of the 20th century hurricanes were far more devestating than we have recently experienced. I want to say something- I'm not trying to argue. It sounds like it, because I get defensive, but I'm not. I know that there are many, many things that are contributing to any global climate change. I know that turning off your lights for only one hour isn't all that you can do. I'm just basically in favor of looking around and seeing what is affective. I want to help, because I consider my self a radical. I consider myself someone who will look at the truth and try to help.
