What a great video. All round good exhibition stuff and at last, some footage of Dan Docherty. Would be great for us who can't get the chance to study with him to see some Practical Tai Chi Chuan and martial applications, Tui Shou and full contact. Please Dan, if you find time, it's like gold dust. Thank you!

tell me if i'm wrong, but all the videos i have seen of capoeira is like some sort of acrobatic dancing. if that's how they practise too, then i cant see howit can be called a martial art. if ur going to use this martial art u have to practise for real, its no use to dance if ur getting attacked. u have to practise someone attacking u etc...with only practise from dance u dont know to do when u get attacked by a person with a knife, broken bottle, etc.

that would only be true if "martial art" and "self defence" meant the same things, but they are slightly different concepts- you can have self defence without it being a martial art (krav maga) and you can have a martial art without self defence applications. For example, iaido or kendo are undeniably martial arts, yet it is not really practical to carry a samurai sword round with you, and even if you did, the chances are that arenot going to bump into someone who is carrying one with them.

Hasselberg666 In all sorts of Combat sports you mostly are under NO Circumstances allowed to use what you have learned for normal life stuff.... But i do agree a bit with you that they're training must be akward :P

Does this stuff have any real world value or is it completely for show. It shows him blocking knife attacks and while it looks cool, would real experts use these methods in a real knife attack in a dark alley?
