See, the thing that made him a villain was that in a way, he wasn't one. All his murders were done against truly bad people, in order to improve humanity and save the decent.
However, this is where Light slips up: two wrongs make no right. By killing murderers, he had turned himself into a murderer himself, even if he was a murderer of "righteousness".
It's an amazing manga, not because of the villain, but rather, in a way... there never was one. Just a guy trying to better the world.

I like this a lot better than the Japanese version. Brad sounds like he's genuinely amused at the situation, whereas the original seiyuu sounds like he's just trying to sound as insane as humanly possible. Now if I had just been cornered with the fact that I am the most notorious serial killer in history, I would try my hardest to avoid sounding insane.
