thats the irony of it, he went through hell and back, and back to hell and back again:P in a longshot attempt to save his people and to try and make lordaeron stand. but in the end, his vengance got the best of his, he lost the large portion of his sanity, enough to curse him and rid him of his soul(and the last vestages of his sanity, and after all the sacrifice, he ends up doing what he nearly died to stop happening.

If you play WoW, sit in the Undercity throne room and listen, you can hear the Lich King talking to Arthas and Arthas killing King Terenas. Its really low so turn your volume up a bit.
