Even though he was not born into a Muslim family, he knows more than MOST people I know who are supposedly "learned in Islam". Yes you are right. However, it was not Shia or Sunnis who caused these splits, read the history of what happened at the end of the Prophet's(sas) life & who caused splits. We are simply the victims of hisotry. I believe in Islamic unity. I believe we need to work together. However, I believe that Qur'an, hadith, and hisotry speak for themselves. We as Muslims should accept our disagreements with respect and work to improve the state of Muslims, whether Sunni or Shia.

I agree with most of what you said except the unity part. We always hear the word "unity" but no one can define it for us. What does that really mean? praying together? AFter prayer, we have one lecture where the speaker praise Imam Ali and Omar at the same time? Give us a scenario of activities we do as "united," so we all know. Thx!

Asalamu alaykum, When it comes to fiqh (like prayer) & its details, there are minor differences even within Ahlul Sunnah(position of arms, saying 'ameen' loudly/silent, etc). So when I talk about unity, I don't mean we all have to do things the same. To me, Unity means morally, politically, & financially assisting other Muslims regardless of school of thought. About the "Imam Ali & Omar" thing, we can dialogue about history with respect, but in the end, Allah will judge between all His creation.

Thanks for clarifying that top part. When it comes to Sunnis, Shiite will do anything to kiss up to the Sunnis, it is very disturbing.
I was not born a Shiite. I became one. I, proudly, will not lower myself to debate with someone who thinks I am a kafir or Mushrik. If that person is polite enough to debate respectfully, that is fine, else to hell if he/she thinks I am a Kafir.
