no... not really. there is plenty of modern black music that is original. just put the time in to find it. NO mainstream music these days is original. no matter what style. if you really care so much about the "original music" go to the underground scene. unsigned artists of all races bring new, fresh and original ideas to music everyday. the reaason you dsont hear originality on the radio is beacause originality doesnt sell, and record companies dont want to take risks.

Cliff2blizz, I agree. Many of these hiphop producers are not musically talented, all they do is sample other people's melodies and then make them into funky, catchy, groovy hiphop songs. They themselves cannot compose melodies from scratch.
Yet they're so famous, like timbaland, kanye, Dr. Dre, etc. The only hiphop producers who don't sample most of their beats are the Neptunes, Nate 'Danja' Hill and Stargate.
Also, to be fair to Timbaland, he sometimes composes melodies,e.g. "Give it to me"

Timbalnd didn't producer 500+ hits, that's a blatant lie. He might have produced up to 500 songs, but only a small percentage are hits. He's not the only one to have produced so many songs, the neptunes have also been producing since 1994 and they've done over 500 songs, many of which became hits in the mid-2000s
