Fun and frolic are words that described the atmosphere at this location of wonderment, an early amusement park that was started in 1925 on the lake front in Canandaigua, New York. For sixty years this modest lakeside enterprise catered to the tastes of middle class Americans. Its early offerings included a dance hall and a few rides. As the years passed, free circus style attractions were added. By the time it ceased operations in 1985, this regional attraction offered miniature golf, boat rides, bingo, a tram and numerous amusement rides including bumper cars and a wooden roller coaster. Young and old alike flocked to Canandaigua each summer to enjoy Roseland Park.
When I lived in nearby Rochester, I often visited Roseland as I loved the wooden roller coaster. Shot with a Bolex 16mm camera, here is a group of us enjoying the day at Roseland. I remember it as a fun place to be and was sorry to hear that it closed.

I couldnt have been more than 7 years old. I remember refusing the rollercoaster....i remember the bumper boats, and i remember at the end.....the games......but most of all...........i remember the Carousel....at the end.... when the canandaigua sound asks for any protection.
And I couldn't help but laugh along with "Galloping Gertie"! (Gert was gone by 1969, replaced by the Gold Nugget)
The best of all was the merry-go-round, which is now beautifully restored and in the Carousel Mall in Syracuse.
Enter "Carousel Center" to see it, but it seems so out of place there!
There is a AOL Video of it titled "The Skyliner Rollercoaster"
