Sorry to get all technical on you but it's not "serious" music it's baroque. Vivaldi and Bach were the great baroque era composers though Bach was not liked very much due to the fact that his music was so complicated. Bach's death in 1750 marks the end of the baroque era and the start of the classical period. You are technically right in saying that it's not classical music but don't call it serious music, that just sounds stupid.
