Political Party filling six or more candidates in this election are eligible for party pol
itical broadcast. Air time is inproportion to the number of the candidates filled. This is the first of two programs, the speakers respresenting their parties are:
Mr Lee Hsien Loong, from the People's Action Party;
Mr Chiam See Tong from the Singapore Democratic Alliance;
Ms Sylvia Lim from the Wo
rkers' Party;
Ms Chee Siok Chin from the Singapore Democratic Party.
The party filled in with the smallest number of candidates will appear first, the party filled in with the largest number, last.

The remaining 49 seats were contested by 97 candidates from nine political parties and three independents. There were three-cornered contests in two constituencies and straight fights for the remaining seats. In the polls held on 22 December 1984, the PAP won 47 seats while one seat each went to
the Workers' Party and the Singapore Democratic Party.
Such stupid question!! Of course the Opposition could not handle because PAP is the acting government. I bet if the opposition can do too if they were in power!!
