This English folk song dates back to late medieval times, when the seaside resort of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. Founded well over a thousand years ago, Scarborough Faire was a 45 day trading event in medieval times. I used the Book of Hours to tell the story of Scarborough Faire and also the Canticle under it. Other paintings used included Vermeer and Van Ecke, both baroque painters around 500 years ago.
