yes they are. a male leopard weighs on average 170 pounds, a male lion weighs 400. a male lion is the only thing spotted hyenas are truely terrified of, they will go out of their way to kill them, especially the clan matriarchs, that puts the rest of the clan into a power struggle and makes them easier to ambush and kill.

The leopard's bite force is more like 450, and thats more then enough to penetrate through the neck of a hyena, the excess force is only useful for breaking certain carcass bones, leopards stick to nutritious meat. And what abt agility and "claw force"?. I think if you put these two animals in a cage, the victory will belong to the leopard. Leopards have killed 1000 pound gorillas, and crocodiles (which has alot higher bite-force then a hyena - which proves biteforce isnt everything)

Lol, stress yourself down. Hyenas are basically scavengers, and their teeth are adapted to eat any trash predators like leopards leave for them. They eat the testicles and anus, as good scavengers so (and yes they sometimes hunt). Nobody gives a fuck abt the bite force, 450 or 1000 would both crush your skull, so unless your hyena has bones that can withstand a bite force of 450, its gonna be sauce. And yes, the Biteforce is more then 450, which is enough for predators that are not trashcans!

Come on, the leopard is the most successful predator, and there is a reason for that. Strenght, brains and agility. Why do you think the hyena has adapted such high bite force, because they can make use of leftovers that other predators can't or won't eat. The only reason a leopard would leave his kill to a lone hyena, is because it won't risk injury, which could mean death later on. And besides, the weight of leopard are generally more then that of hyenas.

Even though am a big cat fan, i still keep an objective opinion :) The tiger is my favourite animal, but i still think the lion would win in 60% of the cases, because of their experience in fighting nd mane (leopards/jaguarars are my no. 2). leopards are succesful in their strategy, ambush. hyenas are runners, they run their prey for miles, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles an hour. spotted hyenas have hearts twice the size of a leopard or lion, they dont get tired. leopards on the other hand can only chase at full speed for about 200 yards and its out of steam, in a fight it works the same way. advantage, spotted hyena.
