This video is the result of a research project where I attempted to interpret the song "American Pie" by Don McLean. The images match my interpretation. McLean's song is a non-chronological journey through the music and culture of the 1960's. He bemoans the lost innocence of Rock n' Roll that emerged in the wake of the deaths of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper.

very good man. I found myself going "how did I not catch that?!" Stupid me, I thought Father, son and holy ghost meant Crosby Stilss and Nash. But does the pot leaf like symbolize the Beatles' loss of innocence when people found out about their drug use or something else?

Thanks to all who have responded, even critically, with respect. I am glad folks are enjoying this. Don McLean has certainly provided the world with an interesting and vibrant song. I think it is amazing that he has remained true to his vision and declined to define his meaning. In this regard, he has maintained the integrity of the artist and allowed his song to appeal to different people on many, often personal levels. Now that's art.
