After BBC Breakfast finished on 01/09/06 it just wouldn't go away so we saw what REALLY happens when the programme finished (not that much really).

Pretty much sums up the BBC in the 21st century. Very unprofessional and probably due to the expense of the weather map that cost the mandatory license payer a fortune. Come on, 6 year old's can work the internet and this is amateur hour at it's best.

I worked for the BBC at this time. There was a new computerised play-out and continuity system being tested....and it basically didn't work. There were loads of cock-ups like this for about a month until they sorted it out. There was one Saturday night I think it was when the whole thing collapsed and BBC1 just fell off air. After that apparently the man responsible for the new system was, ahem, moved to other duties.

I used to have a few os these cock-ups caught by accident on Sky+, but they have long since been wiped I'm afraid. And I've now left the BBC so don't have access to the 'blooper' tapes. But if someone out there - like a BBC staffer in VT? - can post the BBC TV Christmas bloopers tape from 2006, I feel sure the best ones will be on there.

Not to mention it "syndicates" the content around the country to other local BBC stations that also have to be "in step" with the main studio, runs 7 nationally available channels for most of the day every day and numerous Radio stations, world service TV and Radio and you moan about 2 minutes worth of cock ups? If anything its given them material for a blooper reel 10 years from now!

Only way to deal with a show like breakfast when it refuses to leave the air waves is to machine gun it to death. it's worked for other shows like Wacaday and Big Breakfast.
